Our new dental practice video

With with addition of Highlands Ranch dentist Dr. Sarah Parson….. Dr.’s James and Candace DeLapp had produced a new dental practice video describing their Family dental practice in the Highlands Ranch and Lone Tree areas of Colorado. Technology whether in video or dentistry is continually improving and our knowledge base expands as we speak.  One of our recent Blog articles was on Stem Cells found in teeth  may hold the future of Regenerative Medicine.  Basically the thought is… a stem cell has the genetic information to produce any type of cell in the body.  Research into new disease treatment is expanding. We just do not know where this ultimately will lead medicine.  For most of us “old guys” we do not have any viable stem cells.  For children and young adults thee are possibilities.  Baby teeth with “most” of the root left or in young adults “wisdom teeth” may be a source of stem cells.

Study of the safety of teeth whitening agents on enamel

In the April issue of the “Journal of American Dental Association” (ADA) Cadenaro et al present a study on the safety of whitening agents on the enamel surface. In this study they performed the study “on patients” (in vivo) versus other studies that were done on samples in the laboratory (in vitro). Highlands Ranch dentists Dr. James DeLapp and Dr. H. Candace DeLapp provide a variety of cosmetic dental services in their dental office including both one-hour teeth whitening (LUMA) and take home tray whitening.

Methods used in this teeth whitening study

In this study 20 participants were recruited who wish to have tooth bleaching. The material selected for this study was a 38% hydrogen perioxide bleaching agent. The researchers bleached the participants teeth four times at one-week intervals.

Results and conclusions on tooth whitening

The results showed no significant difference in surface roughness when compared to baseline. The conclusion from the researchers is 38% hydrogen peroxide in-office whitening gels showed no alteration of the enamel surfaces.

Highlands Ranch Teeth whitening Dental office

Our office uses both one hour teeth whitening process as well a overnight tray whitening system. The overnight systems use a much lower concentration of whitening gel. Our office has found that some colors of teeth are more difficult to whiten than other. As an example… tetracycline staining may or may not whiten significantly with gray hues the next most difficult. Yellow hues by in large are much easier to whiten
