Dental Care in Highlands Ranch

There a number of reasons why patients seek dental care for their children.  The primary or baby teeth in time will become loose and lost as the permanent or adult teeth erupt. Highlands Ranch dentists Dr. Sarah Parsons andDr. H. Candace DeLapp want to stress the importance of early dental care for your children.  In the past week we saw a young child who had some sore areas due to the retention of some primary teeth.  As the permanent tooth begins to erupt it melts away the root of the baby tooth.  In this case the melting away of the baby tooth was incomplete causing some discomfort for the child.  Removal of the baby toothallows the permanent tooth an unimpeded path to erupt in to the mouth.

Tooth space maintainer may be necessary

If a baby tooth is lost the other teeth may cause crowding of the other permanent teeth.  A space maintainer may need to hold the space so the permanent teeth.  In part this depends upon the situation in which the tooth is lost.  Some situations require no space maintainers while other require attention.
