Creating Conservative Composite Restorations that Mimic nature: The Master Series Part IHighlands Ranch dentists Dr. James DeLapp is attending the above entitled course tomorrow at the American Academy of Cosmetic Denmtistry in Grapevine Texas.  The course is taught by Lorenzo Vanini DDS MD. Dr. Vanini is a world renouned dental artist with a private practice in Como Italy. Dr. H. Candace DeLapp will be attending a courses entitled “100.00 patients have spoken … are you listening? and “The new patient experience”. Our goal in taking these continuing education courses in to improve our skills as dentists and to try to provide our Highlands Ranch dental patients the some of the best service we are capable of.

Highlands Ranch Cosmetic Dentistry Artistry Dental Continuing Education

The basic premise of Dr. Vanini presentation is to understand the importance of color and incorporate these in the artist’s palette to try to replicate nature as best we can. In this course Dr. DeLapp will be developing the skill to understand the five dimensions of color and how to stratify these when building a tooth out of a composite filling material. Building a full tooth with composite material is a direct Dental veneer. Changing a tooth with porcealain is termed an in-direct dental veneer.  It is important to know how to deliver both types of cosmetic dental procedures.

Nearly invisible tooth filling margins

Making a filling material blend with the natural tooth structure is something our Highlands Ranch and Denver dentists work on and strive to improve on a daily basis. Dr. Vanini will be presenting new techniques that we hope will improve the services we deliver to our patients from our Highlands Ranch dental office.

Six to eight hours of lecture or laboratory every day!

Taking classes is fun for our Highlands Ranch dentist and challenging. Writer’s cramp is something is the downside of all this information but keeps us involved in our profession.

Phonetics when considering dental Veneers in Highlands Ranch

Dental veneers are usually placed to improve the looks of our Highlands Ranch dental patients smile. The whole idea in a smile make over is to correct minor tooth position… length and color to name a few.  Phonetics is one of several additional element that should be investigated because the dental veneers not only need to look good they need to “sound good”! Highlands Ranch dentists Dr. James DeLapp and Dr. H. Candace DeLapp provide cosmetic dentistry as well a family dentistry to their patients in the Lone Tree, Castle Pines, Parker, Ken Caryl, Centennial, Littleton and Denver metro area.

The dental veneer mock up

A diagnostic wax-up is fabricated from models of your current teeth. After a complex evaluation… a diagnostic wax-up if fabricated to meet your esthetic concerns.  You have the ability to choose different “styles” of teeth to have fabricated.  These styles differ mostly the the incisal edges of teeth.

The Phoenic Evaluation of the Diagnostic wax-up

If the diagnostic wax -up is esthetically pleasing our Highlands Ranch dentists can proceed to the phonetic evaluation.  This phonetic evaluation consists of evaluation of the “f”…”v”… and “s” sounds. The goal is for the patient to be able to make these sounds comfortably.  There are times in which there is excessive incisal thickness of the upper front teeth that needs to be adjusted.  In addition… occlusal evaluation needs to be evaluated before proceeding to the final dental veneers. In many instances these factors are evaluated and corrected in the dental temporaries.

Replacing old worn out silver dental fillings by our Highlands Ranch Dentists

Old silver dental fillings frequently have decay (cavities) under these old fillings. The combination of silver and mercury are combined together to form this amalgam filling material. In time… these “silver dental fillings” wear and corrode away allowing bacterial to percolate underneath the filling. Highlands Ranch Dentists Dr. James DeLapp andDr. H. Candace DeLapp have many different solutions to this problem.   If left unattended… these cavities under old silver filling could cause substantial additional dental problems.

The most common dental solution for replacing old worn out silver fillings

In most situations you  can replace old worn out dental fillings with a variety of dental materials.  In some instances replacing with amalgam filling material may be in order.  In our practice “most” of our Highlands Ranch Dental patients do not like the looks of the old silver (black) fillingmaterial. Newer more esthetic dental material are available. These materials include but are not limited to:

  • Composite or white dental filling material
  • Bonded porcelain like dental material
  • White all porcelain dental crown
  • Porcelain fused to metal dental crown
  • Gold or similar colored all-metal dental crown

Delta Dental Insurance Highlands Ranch

Highlands Ranch Delta Dental Insurance helps pay for a portion of the cost of dental filling replacement. Deltal Dental and most other dental insurance planspay a portions of the cost of replacement of dental fillings.  In many instance they pay for the cheapest (silver filling) material.  Typically reimbursement run about 50% of the fee but plans vary up and down from this percentage.
