Dr. Sarah Parsons

Cottonwood Dental Group P.C. is a Highlands Ranch family dental office dedicated to providing you and your family the dental care you deserve. One of the many different elements that makes this dental office unique is it is a “true” family dental office. Dr. James DeLapp and Dr. H. Candace DeLapp have been joined by their daughter Dr. Sarah Parsons this past June.  Dr. Parsons is a 2010 graduate of the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Parsons completed her undergraduate degree from Colorado State University where she was a scholarship athlete for the swim team earning All-Mountain West -Academic honors.  Dr. Parsons is married and enjoys swim coaching, cars and dachshunds.

Dr. James DeLapp

Dr. James DeLapp parents and grandparents were born and raised in Colorado.  He attended the University of Northern Colorado where he studied and received  Bachelors and Masters or Arts in Biology. Form 1975-1978  he worked in  a crime laboratory for the Greeley Police Department. He left police forensic to attend Dental school in 1978. In 1982 Dr. DeLapp graduated from the University of Colorado School of Dentistry and entered private practice. In 1995 he earned his second Masters this time in Exercise Physiology and the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. Most of his research was at the Olympic Training Center at the International Center of Aquatic Research (ICAR). In addition to dentistry, Dr. DeLapp coaches swimming and has world ranked swimmers.

Practicing what they  teach

Both Dr’s DeLapp teach at the dental school on a part-time basis.Dr. James DeLapp teaches fixed prostodontics (dental crowns and Bridges), operative dentistry (dental fillings) as well as cosmetic dentistry (dental veneers and teeth whitening e.g.). In addition, Their dental office is closed on Friday’s a both doctors teach at the University.

Dr. DeLapp is married and practices with his wife Candace. Their daughter Sarah, attended Colorado State University where she majored in Biological Science. At CSU Sarah was a scholarship athlete for the Rams Swim team and earned All-Academic honors From the Mountain West Conference. Sarah is currently a senior dental student at University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine class of 2010.

Dr. H. Candace DeLapp

Lived most of her life growing up in Aurora Colorado Prior to dental school  worked at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in the Department of Neurology as an Administrative Officer.During this time she was able to participate in clinical research at the University.  She was one of several investigators in several studies including “Long Term Results Following Prednisone and Thymectomy in Mysethenia Gravis” which was published in the Journal of Neurology. After dental school Dr. DeLapp has been elected twice as President of the University of Colorado Dental School Alumni Association. She has been named to the Deans Advisory Council and is on the Board of Trustees for the Dental School. In addition, Dr. DeLapp is on the peer-review committee at the Metropolitan Denver Dental Society.

Dr. H. Candace DeLapp also teach at the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine. the courses she teaches include several pre-clinical course including removable prostodontics ( dentures and Partial Dentures)… operative dentistry ( dental fillings),  and in the past has helped teach in the dental occlusion courses.
